67th Avenue Corridor - Construction Info

Current Construction Info:  (September 11, 2026)

The City of Peoria has contracted with Sundt Construction for the 67th Avenue Corridor Improvement Project, Pinnacle Peak to Happy Valley Road, with the following work currently taking place or planned:

• 67th Avenue traffic is currently shifted to the east side of the road, one lane in each direction with left turns restricted, to accommodate work on the west side of 67th Avenue. In addition, Hatfield Road is closed on the west side of 67th Avenue until approximately mid-October.

• Crews continue work at 67th Avenue and Hatfield Road to install concrete curb, gutter, sidewalk, valley gutter, and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) ramps. Work is also taking place to prepare the subsurface of the roadway for paving, currently scheduled for September 23-25. Some traffic control shifts will be necessary on 67th Avenue for the paving and striping for southbound traffic during this time.

• Scheduled to begin September 16, for approximately 1-2 weeks, crews will work on Hatfield Road to mill (remove) asphalt, repave and install speed bumps, with paving currently scheduled for September 23-25. Following that work, crews will stripe the roadway and adjust utilities to make them flush with the asphalt surface. During this work, Hatfield Road will remain closed at 67th Avenue, but open for travel for local resident access to/from the west only.

• Scheduled for mid-October, work will begin in 67th Avenue at the Happy Valley Road intersection to reconstruct the outside lanes, install a median island on the south side of the intersection, and provide for dual left turns for northbound 67th Avenue. 67th Avenue traffic will initially be shifted to the middle of 67th, with lane and possible turn restrictions in place, for approximately 3-4 weeks. Following that work, in approximately early November, 67th Avenue traffic will then be shifted to the curb lanes for work to take place in the middle of 67th Avenue.

• Crews continue work in the Hatfield Road basin to conduct excavation, install the weir walls and spillway. The weir helps control water levels during large storm events. Scheduled for September 14, installation of headwalls will begin.

• Crews continue work east of 67th Avenue, in the 65th Avenue wash, to complete retaining walls, and scheduled for September 14, will begin on the gabion facade of the retaining wall.

• Crews continue work at the Pinnacle Peak Road basin nearing completion on installation of pipe rail fencing, which should be complete in mid-September.
