67th Avenue Corridor - Construction Info

Current Construction Info:  (July 24, 2026)

The City of Peoria has contracted with Sundt Construction for the 67th Avenue Corridor Improvement Project, Pinnacle Peak to Happy Valley Road, with the following work currently taking place or planned:

  • 67th Avenue traffic is currently shifted to the east side of the road, one lane in each direction with left turns restricted, to accommodate work on the west side of 67th Avenue. In addition, Hatfield Road is closed on the west side of 67th Avenue.

  • Crews continue work on the west side of 67th Avenue to install storm drain manholes, lateral lines, and catch basins as part of drainage improvements.

  • Scheduled to begin the week of July 27, crews will be excavating the Hatfield Road basin to prepare for installation of the weir floor and walls. The weir helps control water levels during large storm events. This effort will take 2-3 months to complete.

  • Scheduled to begin in early August, crews will conduct grading activities at 67th Avenue and Hatfield Road to prepare for installation of concrete curb and gutter, scheduled to take place in late August.

  • Scheduled for July 30, traffic control will be removed, for southbound 67th Avenue traffic only, to open all travel lanes from south of Villa Lindo to Pinnacle Peak Road.

  • Crews continue work installing the six 54" pipes that will run diagonally across 67th Avenue, beginning at the Hatfield Road basin and moving northeast.

  • Crews also continue work east of 67th Avenue, in the 65th Avenue wash, to install footings and headwalls. Scheduled for the week of August 3, work will begin to construct retaining walls.

  • Crews continue work at the Pinnacle Peak Road basin nearing completion on landscape, and continue to install pipe rail fencing through the end of August.

To accommodate the construction, speed limits on 67th Avenue, from Pinnacle Peak Road to Hatfield Road, are reduced to 30mph for the safety of travelers, construction crews, and nearby residents and businesses.

Access to residences and businesses is being maintained during this work, although it may not be the most direct route. Please be aware that construction schedules can be impacted by a variety of factors to include weather, materials scheduling, and availability of resources.  Thank you for your patience during this work.
