67th Avenue Corridor - Construction Info

Current Construction Info:  (Oct. 9, 2026)

The City of Peoria has contracted with Sundt Construction for the 67th Avenue Corridor Improvement Project, Pinnacle Peak to Happy Valley Road, with the following work currently taking place or planned:

• 67th Avenue traffic is currently reduced to one lane in each direction with left turns restricted, as needed, to accommodate work along 67th Avenue.

• Scheduled to take place Monday, Oct. 12, 67th Avenue traffic will be shifted to the inside lanes, south of the Happy Valley Road intersection, for crews to reconstruct the outside (curb lanes) of 67th Avenue. In addition, the dedicated right turn lane into Chaminade will be closed; however, right turns can be made from the through lane.

• Scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 12 through Tuesday, Nov. 3, the main entrance to CCV and Lifetime Fitness at the traffic signal on the west side of 67th Avenue will be closed. This closure is needed for the contractor to reconstruct the southbound curb lane, and will be removing asphalt and subsurface material approximately 5-6 inches deep. To maintain access to the businesses on the west side of 67th Avenue where safely possible, all other driveways will be ramped and remain open and accessible with “Business Access” and “Bump” signage in place.

• Scheduled to begin Tuesday, Oct. 13 through Friday, Oct. 23, the middle/main 67th Avenue driveway (just south of Taco Bell) to the Happy Valley Marketplace will be closed. This closure is needed as the contractor will be reconstructing the northbound curb lane, and will be removing asphalt and subsurface material approximately 5-6 inches deep. To maintain access to the Happy Valley Marketplace where safely possible, the north and south 67th Avenue driveways will both be ramped and remain open and accessible with “Business Access” and “Bump” signage in place.  Happy Valley Road driveways to the Happy Valley Marketplace will also remain open for access. 

• Scheduled to begin in early November, 67th Avenue traffic will be shifted back to the outside (curb) lanes for work to take place in the middle of 67th Avenue to reconstruct roadways and install a median island on the south side of the intersection.

• Crews continue work in the Hatfield Road basin to install concrete curb, driveway, and valley gutter, and will soon begin installation of rip-rap to minimize erosion in the basin.

• Crews continue work east of 67th Avenue, in the 65th Avenue wash, to install the spillway and begin work on the gabion facade and gabion baskets, prior to painting of the retaining wall.
