67th Avenue Corridor - Construction Info
Current Construction Info: (April 15, 2025)
To prepare for the City's improvements, APS and Southwest Gas contractor crews are currently working in the area to relocate their facilities out of the way of the planned improvements. Roads remain open for travel with lane and left turn restrictions in place to accommodate this utility work, which is expected to take another 6-8 weeks to complete.
The City of Peoria has contracted with Sundt Construction for improvements to 67th Avenue, from Pinnacle Peak Road to Happy Valley Road, with work currently taking place for drainage improvements along Pinnacle Peak Road and Hatfield Road, west of 67th Avenue, as follows:
-
The New River Trail is currently CLOSED at Hatfield Road, between Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley, through December 2026. This closure is necessary to accommodate excavation and installation of a 90” storm drain pipe to serve as the outfall for drainage during stormwater events.
-
Crews continue work in Hatfield Road to install storm drain pipe in an easterly direction, currently approaching 72nd Avenue.
-
Scheduled to begin in late April for approximately 3-4 weeks, the Hatfield Road and 72nd Avenue intersection will be closed to traffic for storm drain pipe to be installed across the intersection. Detour signage will be in place to direct travelers around the closure.
-
Following work in Hatfield Road across 72nd Avenue, in mid to late May storm drain pipe installation will continue in the south side of Hatfield Road, working east toward the 67th Avenue basin. To accommodate this work, Hatfield Road will be WESTBOUND only (no eastbound traffic permitted) during weekdays (Monday through Friday), and relaxed over the weekends slightly to permit two-way traffic on Saturdays and Sundays. This configuration is expected to be in place into September.
-
Work also continues to trench and install 60” storm drain pipe in the north side of Pinnacle Peak Road, from the drainage basin at 70th Avenue to 67th Avenue. Pinnacle Peak Road remains open for travel during this work and resident access will be maintained. Segments of the path at the retention basin on the northeast corner of 70th Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road will be closed to accommodate storm drain pipe installation at the southeast corner of the basin.

Thank you for your patience during this work.
